“The growth of Ghana National Association of Teachers will continue to be my priority with or without a leadership position,” said Mr James Affadu the Headmaster, Adjena Senior high Technical School.

He made this statement as he engaged the leadership of Ghana National Association of Teachers, Kwahu North District on Thursday 24th February, 2022 at Donkorkrom as part of his promise to the teachers of the Association there.

Mr. Affadu traveled with his partners, Mr. Harrison Mompi, Chairperson of GNAT, Asuogyaman District and Ms. Tricia Walker, a retired teacher and a philanthropist from USA who donated life jackets, footwear, and exercise books to be distributed to teachers and pupils in the remote Islands of Donkorkrom.

Mr. Affadu emphasized that the life of the teacher matters in the delivery of quality education in Ghana and, in that regards, he saw the need to partner with others to support teachers—especially, those who have to cross rivers, in their committed quest to teach, with life jackets to save their lives in case the unexpected happens.

He continued to say that this project, which was part of his campaign message, will not be abandoned just because he didn’t win the position but, with support from his partners, they are going to deliver on his promises made to them.

Mr. Affadu said,as a stakeholder in education and a staunch member of the Ghana National Association of Teachers, he will continue to give his all for growing GNAT in the best interest of members who are the backbone of the Association.

Mr. Harrison Mompi, Chairman of GNAT, Asuogyaman District addressing the gathering of GNAT leadership at Donkorkrom, challenged them to continue to work hard in the best interest of their members and also to sustain the Association that has given a lot to teachers, especially their members.

Ms. Tricia Walker applauded the teachers gathered for their commitment and sacrifices they make on a daily basis to impact the education of the next generation’s leaders.

She further encouraged them to do their work with their whole heart since teaching is a unique profession, one that can only have a positive impact on the lives of their students when they (the teachers) are committed 100% to the work.

Mad. Constance Akoto, Chairperson of GNAT, Kwahu North District on behalf of the Association, expressed their heartiest appreciation to Mr. James Affadu and his partners for coming to the aid of their teachers who risks their lives on daily basis crossing the rivers unprotected to teach and also for the donation of footwear and exercise books for the less privileged children in the rural islands in the area.

She assured them that she and the leadership of GNAT in the area will supervise the distribution of the items for them to get to the right people and for them to be put into good use.

Mr. Emmanuel Baadu Yeboah, District Secretary of GNAT in an exclusive interview with the media after the presentations, expressed his delight and surprise at the gesture because he thought since elections are over, nothing would really bind Mr. Affedu to his campaign promises.

He said the fulfillment of this promise alone is a great and unique quality of a committed member of Ghana National Association of Teachers who is ready to lead the Association to greatness and he wished him well in all his future endeavors.
