The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly has called on residents to work together towards building prosperity and restoring hope as the nation marked its 69th Independence Anniversary.

Delivering his address at the Independence Day celebration on March 6, 2026, the MCE emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, and patriotism in advancing the development of the municipality and the country at large.

Speaking under the national theme “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope,” he noted that prosperity involves creating opportunities that allow citizens both young and old to access quality education, employment, healthcare, and security.

The MCE highlighted that restoring hope among the youth, especially graduates seeking employment, requires good governance, accountability, and collective responsibility from all citizens.

According to him, under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, significant strides have been made in key sectors including health, education, infrastructure, and agriculture.

Health Sector Improvements
In the health sector, he disclosed that the construction of two Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds is currently underway to improve access to healthcare delivery in various communities. He added that the posting of more trained health professionals to facilities has enhanced healthcare services, while maternal mortality continues to decline.

Education and School Infrastructure
On education, the MCE said government interventions have improved school infrastructure and learning environments, resulting in increased enrolment across all levels.
He revealed that the Assembly is currently constructing a two-unit kindergarten block for Kpong R/C Primary School and a three-unit classroom block for Agormanya R/C Primary School, in addition to providing school furniture for several institutions across the municipality.
Water, Infrastructure and Energy
The Assembly is also addressing access to safe drinking water through the construction of five mechanised boreholes across the municipality. In the area of infrastructure, he noted that road projects, expansion of electricity coverage, and installation of streetlights are underway to improve livelihoods and support economic activities.
Agriculture Development
Touching on agriculture, the MCE described the sector as the backbone of the local economy. He indicated that government initiatives such as irrigation projects, fertilizer subsidies, and mechanization services are helping farmers increase productivity.
He also encouraged young people to take advantage of the Nkoko Nkitinkiti Programme by registering with the Municipal Department of Agriculture to benefit from the initiative.
Call for Sanitation and Youth Empowerment
The MCE further urged residents to participate in monthly sanitation exercises and keep their surroundings clean to prevent diseases such as Cholera and Typhoid fever.

He encouraged the youth to acquire technological and employable skills, remain disciplined, and embrace innovation to contribute to the development of the municipality.
As the nation commemorates 69 years of independence, the MCE called on residents to honour the sacrifices of the country’s forefathers by promoting peace, unity, and tolerance.

The Independence Day parade, held in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, brought together traditional leaders, security agencies, heads of institutions, teachers, pupils, and members of the public to celebrate Ghana’s independence and reflect on the nation’s progress.
