Nene Teye Agor IX, Okper Divisional Chief in the Yilo Klo Traditional area is afraid the next generation may not grow to become responsible leaders without the guidance and motivation by the current leadership.
Nene Okper made this statement during his Royal visit to 6 Basic Schools in the Yilo Krobo Municipality on Thursday 5th August, 2021 a day before the end of the academic term to reward the best perform students in the schools he visited and also to ascertain the teaching and learning situations in the schools he visited.
The beneficiary schools are Pleyo M/A Basic School, Sikabeng M/A Basic School, Adjikpo Dukuyo M/A Basic School, Ogome Anglican Basic School, Somanya M/A Basic School and Somanya R/C Basic School.
All the first 3 best performed students from the KG to JHS level in all the Schools Nene Okper and his visiting entourage visited received awards of Nene Okper Branded exercise Books, Mathematical sets and other teaching and learning Materials to set a competitive standards among the Pupils to best improve the academic standards in the Yilo Klo State as Nene Okper assured to sustain this initiative and expend it in the near future as he plans of adding a scholarship scheme to support the brilliant but needy pupils in the area.
At Pleyo, upon a special appeal from the teachers and the School Management committee for assistance to construct a 3-Unit Classroom block with ancillary facilities to accommodate their children who have to walk for miles to Oterpkelur to access JHS education since they don’t have the facilities in their communities.
Nene Okper immediately donated 50 bags of Cement to comprehend their efforts as the community has already started with blocks modeling to begin a self help project. Nene Okper assured them of his full commitment to keep supporting the project at different stages to make sure Pleyo which falls under his traditional jurisdiction has a JHS within the shortest possible time as he also donated street lights to the school to improve visibility.
Sikabeng M/A Basic School also to have a modern Urinal to be constructed by Nene Okper to ease the problem of lack of place of convenience for both teachers and students.
At Ogome Anglican Basic School in Somanya, Nene Okper officially expressed his interest to adopt a very brilliant Class 2 Pupil by name Hannah Teye as he promised that all the educational expenses of that young girl from today is on him as he furthered directed the school authorities to arrange the Parents of the young girl to meet with him.

Nene Okper continue to say that from his observations, most of the schools in the area lack some basic social amenities and if leadership and stakeholders continue to wait on only government to provide everything for the schools then most of the schools will continue to struggle in delivering their mandate as he appeals to well meaning sons and daughters of Yilo Klo State to come back home and support build a Prosperous Yilo Klo for all.
