The newly reconstituted Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Education Oversight Committee (MEOC) held its maiden meeting on Wednesday, August 20th, 2025 at the Municipal Assembly Hall. The committee is chaired by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. John Atteh Matey, with the Municipal Education Director, Mr. Samuel Kwesi Tettey, serving as Secretary.

In his address, Hon. John Atteh Matey appealed to members to prioritise the welfare and progress of the education sector, stressing that the future of Krobo Land and Ghana depends on today’s learners. He reaffirmed his commitment to lead efforts in strengthening education delivery and urged members to contribute actively with constructive ideas, partnerships, and support avenues such as NGOs, since government alone cannot meet every need.

Mr. Samuel Kwesi Tettey, the committee’s Secretary, presented key issues for discussion, including:
Challenges facing non–school feeding beneficiary schools
Inadequate accommodation for teachers, particularly in the middle belt of the municipality
Reports of teacher harassment at Oborpah Gyekiti
Organisation of the 2025/2026 Municipal Mock Examinations
A detailed analysis of the 2024 BECE results

The committee deliberated extensively on these concerns and agreed on timelines for addressing some of the challenges.

In closing, Hon. Matey assured the committee that his office is working tirelessly to ensure all nine remaining basic schools in the municipality are enrolled onto the School Feeding Programme by the beginning of the new academic year.
