On Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Lower Manya Krobo, Hon. John Atteh Matey, led the charge as residents of the Municipality actively participated in the maiden edition of the National Sanitation Day held at Kpong.

The exercise witnessed a massive turnout from residents and transport operators, who came together to clean the Kpong Main Lorry Station and its surrounding areas. Participants also worked hard to desilt choked gutters in the vicinity, an effort aimed at improving sanitation and the overall health conditions in the Municipality.

Various Heads of Departments and staff of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly were heavily represented and contributed significantly to the success of the exercise.

A major highlight of the event was the impactful contribution of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, the waste management company, which supported the exercise with both personnel and equipment—playing a vital role in its success.

Speaking to www.krobolandonline.com in an exclusive interview after the cleanup, Hon. John Atteh Matey expressed his appreciation to all citizens and institutions such as Zoomlion, the Municipal NADMO office, and the Environmental Health Department for their collective efforts in ensuring a successful exercise.

He used the opportunity to urge residents of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality to take environmental sanitation seriously, emphasizing that a cleaner environment protects against communicable diseases and could elevate the Municipality’s ranking on the National Sanitation League Table.

Hon. Atteh Matey further assured the people of Lower Manya Krobo that his office remains committed to improving sanitation across the Municipality and will continue to support all efforts in that direction.
