Participants included officers from the Municipal Education Directorate, heads of basic schools, and their assistants. The workshop focused on modern approaches and improved strategies the Directorate intends to implement in shaping the future of education in the Municipality.

The event had Hon. John Atteh Matey, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, as the Special Guest at the opening ceremony.

In his address, Mr. Samuel Kwesi Tettey highlighted the theme of the workshop: “Practicalising the Successful Schools Agenda: Anything Worth Doing is Worth Doing Well.” He emphasized that the theme is not only inspirational but also instructional. He outlined the key pathways to achieving the agenda, which include:
Productive leadership at the school level
Teacher commitment and discipline
Instilling values and character
Monitoring and evaluation
Community engagement

Mr. Tettey appealed to participants to fully commit themselves to this initiative, assuring them of maximum support from the Directorate. He also acknowledged challenges facing the education sector such as infrastructure deficits, shortage of teachers in rural communities, and disruptions to student contact hours caused by certain community activities.

On his part, Hon. John Atteh Matey assured the gathering of his commitment to improving education in the Municipality. Drawing on his over 20 years of teaching experience, he acknowledged the difficult conditions teachers and learners face, which make effective teaching and learning challenging. He, however, pledged to address these concerns within the shortest possible time.

He disclosed that under his leadership, the Municipal Assembly has taken steps to support the education sector this year, including the construction of three new classroom blocks and the provision of hundreds of furniture pieces for both students and teachers. He encouraged participants to embrace and implement the new teaching and learning measures introduced by the Directorate, promising to play an active role in ensuring the initiative achieves its intended outcomes.

As part of the closing activities of the workshop, led by Mr. Samuel Kwesi Tettey, all stakeholders pledged their full support to the new teaching and learning approach.
