After weeks of mobilisation by General Constructions Limited, the company responsible for the Kpong–Somanya Highway project, the long-stalled construction works have finally resumed.

On Monday, November 17th, 2025, Hon. John Atteh Matey, Municipal Chief Executive for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, together with the Municipal Roads Engineer, Highways Engineers led by Ing. Oduro, and the contractor, undertook a thorough inspection of the highway. The visit focused on identifying critical areas for improvement to ensure long-term durability of the project.

During the tour, Hon. John Atteh Matey and the technical team announced several major additions and upgrades to the scope of work. Key among them is the construction of an additional mega box culvert at the Agormanya Fire Stone Junction. This upgrade is expected to significantly improve flood management in the area, addressing a long-standing challenge for residents and road users.

Furthermore, the Somanya Roundabout through Adjikpo to Asitey has now been incorporated into the ongoing Kpong–Somanya Highway project. Once completed, this will bring much-needed relief to commuters and residents of Asitey and its surrounding communities.

The team also assessed the Odumase Junction stretch through the Nursing Training School, which is expected to link the Kpong–Tema Motorway. This route will serve as the primary corridor for limestone trucks. The Hon. MCE assured the public that the assembly is committed to ensuring that the final construction will protect both lives and property.

In addition, Hon. John Atteh Matey and engineers from the Municipal Assembly inspected the recently reshaped Odumase Junction–Royal Cemetery–Nursing Training College road. This intervention by the Municipal Assembly aims to improve accessibility and ease of movement to and from the Health College.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with www.krobolandonline.com, Hon. John Atteh Matey appealed to road users to exercise patience and cooperate with the temporary inconveniences that the road works may cause. He emphasized that these upgrades, when completed, will significantly improve transportation and safety across the municipality.
