The Asougyaman District Leadership of Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Led by Mr. Harrison Mompi, Chairman and Ms. Tricia Walker, an American Teacher Volunteer, on Thursday, 27th January, 2022, visited two schools in the District.

The first stop was at Old Akrade Basic School, where the team donated some life jackets to the teachers to use in order to assist them cross the Volta River to school safely.

The team continue their lives journey through the Volta Lake to Dodi Island Primary School, a school separated from the rest by the island and donated Life jackets to teachers as they presented exercise books, pencils, sharpeners and footwears to all the learners.

As part of activities of the working visit to Dodi Island, the team paid a brief visit to Agyabui Basic School where the headmaster of the school made an appeal to the team to help their learners, who cross the Volta Lake to school, with some Jackets to serve as protection for them.

The District Chairman of GNATA said as a teacher Union, one of their basic mandates is to take the welfare of their colleagues as priority and the leadership of GNAT in the Asuogyaman District is committed in doing that to make the classroom teacher, in the deprive area very happy and comfortable in their service to Asuogyaman District and Mother Ghana.

The District Chairman, Mr. Harrison Mompi in an exclusive interview with the media stated that their mandate is not only towards the classroom activities but to the general well being of the teachers and a great concern for the learners as well.

Other members on the visiting team are Mr. Addae Obeng Koranteng – GNAT District Secretary,Mr. Cephas Adoka, the District SHS/SHTS Respresentative, Mr James Affadu, Headmaster of Adjena SHST among others
