St. Martin de Porres Catholic Hospital, Agormanya, has reaffirmed its commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery during its 2024 Performance Review, held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. The event brought together stakeholders, management, staff, and a cross-section of the public to assess the hospital’s achievements, challenges, and future plans.

Speaking at the event, Hospital Administrator, Mr. Emmanuel Bosompim, expressed satisfaction with the hospital’s performance over the past year despite some challenges. He emphasized the importance of review meetings in reflecting on successes, addressing setbacks, and strategizing for continued improvement.

Significant Achievements in 2024
The hospital highlighted several key milestones, including:
Expansion of Healthcare Services – The introduction of CT scan services, eye care services, dental services, VIP mortuary services, ambulance services, a canteen service, and a patients’ relatives hostel, all of which are now fully operational.
Infrastructure Development – Upgrades to medical facilities and equipment to meet increasing healthcare demands.
Staff Training & Development – Implementation of continuous professional development programs to enhance service quality.
Community Engagement – Strengthening of outreach initiatives focused on preventive healthcare and public health education.

Challenges and Strategic Roadmap
While celebrating these accomplishments, Mr. Bosompim acknowledged several challenges affecting the hospital, including funding constraints, staff shortages, and the need for advanced medical technology. Looking ahead, the hospital has outlined strategic priorities:
Securing Additional Funding – Management is appealing to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), corporate bodies, and well-wishers to support infrastructure expansion and improve service delivery.
Recruiting Specialized Healthcare Professionals – Efforts are underway to enhance the hospital’s capacity and elevate it to a referral hospital in the region.
Investing in Digital Health Solutions – The hospital plans to implement modern technology for efficient patient management and healthcare delivery.

Financial Burden Due to Unpaid Medical Bills
A major concern highlighted during the review was the rising debt caused by patients who abscond without settling their medical bills. Over the past three years, this has resulted in a cumulative loss of GHC 536,050.65, significantly impacting the hospital’s ability to fund development projects and maintain service quality.

In response, Mr. Bosompim appealed to community leaders and stakeholders to sensitize the public on the importance of fulfilling their financial obligations after receiving medical care.

Urgent Call for Blood Donations
The hospital also emphasized the critical need for blood donations, urging stakeholders, organizations, and the general public to support its blood donation campaigns. Mr. Bosompim stressed that an adequate blood supply is crucial for emergency health interventions and encouraged voluntary donations to sustain life-saving procedures.

Dignitaries and Stakeholder Commitment
The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including: Rev. Albert Tetteh Addy of the Presbyterian Church, Asafoatse Tettey Entti II, Asafoatse Tettey Semadji IV, Asafoatse Tettey Wayo and Many Horgbayo.

In his closing remarks, Rev. Albert Tetteh Addy, who chaired the event, commended the hospital’s management and staff for their resilience and dedication despite the challenges. He assured them of continued stakeholder collaboration to support the hospital’s transformation agenda.

The 2024 Performance Review underscored St. Martin de Porres Catholic Hospital’s unwavering commitment to expanding its healthcare services, improving patient care, and strengthening community partnerships. With a clear strategic vision, the hospital aims to enhance its impact in Agormanya and beyond, ensuring quality healthcare for all.
