Mr. Umar Adams Lukman, Executive Director of Hamadas Relief Network commends the 16 rural communities in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality and Asuogyaman District for embracing the Village Savings and Loans (VSLA) project.
He made this statement during the official Launching of the VSLA project for 16 communities at Adjena Dornor in the Asuogyaman District.
He encouraged the members of the various groups from the several rural communities to be committed to this project which gives them training to well equipped them to manage their own finances which will give them a hustle free backbone in times of financial emergencies.
He further continued to advise the various group leaders to lead with integrity and transparency at the highest level since that is the best way to sustain this all important project.
Mr. Umar Adams Lukman addressing the gathering acknowledged World Vision and USAID for the implementation of the Strengthening Care and Support for orphans and Valuable Children(SCASO) project which gave birth to the Village Savings and Loans (VSLA) initiative.
He continued to say that the unique thing about the VSLA project is that the groups manage their own finances through a rural savings and Loans process that they were adequately trained on how to manage their finances by the Hamadas Relief Network and their partners and through this, other state agancies can give them support in establishing their group businesses just like the group from Abobeng has received support in both training and equipments to start producing Gari through assistance from the Rural Enterprise Agency in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.
Matse Robert Tetteh, Chief of the area applause the Hamadas Relief Network and all their partners for this great initiative which will go along way to improve upon their rural standards of living since their rural lifestyle and business deprived them from accessing loans when the emergency arrives.
He further cautioned the group leaders to adhere strictly to the laid management processes by the project which is the best way to achieve the best results.
The administrative leadership from both the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality and the Asuogyaman District Assembly were both responsible massively as other NGO’s from the two Administrative Assemblies were there at the launching ceremony to support the project.
