The Somanya Deanery of the Catholic Diocese of Koforidua, on Sunday, 7th December 2025, successfully concluded its 3-day annual pilgrimage to the Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto, Osonson. The spiritual journey brought together the faithful to encounter the Lord and celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

This year’s pilgrimage was graced by Rev. Msgr. Paul Abankwah, who visited the Grotto for the very first time in his pastoral ministry. He spent all three days with the religious and lay faithful, joining them in prayer, reflection, and thanksgiving.

Rev. Msgr. Paul Abankwah presided over the final Holy Mass on Sunday, which marked the official end of the pilgrimage. In his homily, he encouraged all Catholics and Christians to live their hope, deepen their faith, and participate actively in the liturgy of the Church.

After Mass, Msgr. Abankwah led the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a new Church Auditorium for the Osonson Parish. He also made a cash donation to support the commencement of the project.

This year’s pilgrimage not only honored the Immaculate Conception but also served as the climax of the Jubilee Year of Hope, making the celebration even more spiritually significant.

Faithful from the Agormanya Deanery also participated actively in the three-day event.

The Very Rev. Fr. Derrick Eyram Senanu, Dean of the Somanya Deanery and Parish Priest of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Somanya, took the opportunity to introduce all newly posted priests to both the Agormanya and Somanya Deaneries. He officially welcomed them on behalf of the entire Church community.
Fr. Senanu extended his heartfelt blessings to all pilgrims and wished them a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year in advance.
