The Akuse Government Hospital in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Regional on Tuesday 6th April had successfully delivered a conjoined twins at their facility.
The surgery procedure which was an elective Caesarean section successfully delivered all male conjoined twins who were joined in the thorax.
A solid medical team was put together by the hospital management for this all important surgical procedure and the surgery was performed by Dr. Taurus Valmont, Obstetrician gynecologist from VRA hospital, Akosombo and Dr. Alhassan Mousa who is the clinical care coordinator of Akuse government Hospital.
The Mother of the conjoined twins Ms. Forgive Amewuda, 27 years old from Torgome in the North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region and Her Conjoined Twins all came out of the Theater in Good health after the surgical procedure which lasted barely an hour.
Forgive Amewuda have already given birth to three children in the past.
The Amewuda Family after the the successful surgical procedure with joy on their faces expressed their heart felt appreciation to God almighty and to the Management and Staff of the Akuse Government Hospital for all the support and care given their daughter weeks before the delivery day which has largely contributed to this successful day.
The family further expressed their appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Ankomah for largely sponsoring the nutritional needs of Forgive Amewuda weeks ahead of the surgical procedure.
Dr. Edna O. Asamoa-Agyare, Medical Superintendent of Akuse Government Hospital in the Press briefing after the Surgical procedure congratulated his team of Medical Doctors and Nurses for the commitment and dedication shown to this special case which resulted in this successful surgical procedure.
She continue to acknowledge the successful day to adequate planning which she expressed her heartiest appreciation to the inside Planning committee and all stakeholders of the Akuse Government Hospital who had played various roles actively without any disappointments.
Dr. Taurus Valmont doing the post surgical briefing of the Press disclosed that arrangements were already put in place for a smooth referral of both the Mother and her Conjoined twins to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for specialist care for onward separation surgery of the babies.
Before the commencement of the Surgical procedure on that faithful Tuesday 6th April, the Hospital took delivery of all the needed and expected emergency drugs and other medical supplies from the Zip Line Ghana Station at Omenako, Suhum in the Eastern Region through the Drone delivery service.
The Lower Manya Krobo Constituency Ambulance and the Men from the Ambulance Service had been on standby hours before the commencement of the Surgical procedure which successfully led to the safe delivery of the conjoined twins.
Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for the North Tongu Constituency whose constituent is Ms. Forgive Amewuda the Mother of the conjoined twins was at the hospital on the day of the surgery as he spent time with the family and other stakeholders the entire duration as they waited for the good.
Before the surgery day, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa had visited Forgive Amewuda at the Akuse Government Hospital as he took care of all financial and material needs of the Mother and the expected Conjoined twins.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on Tuesday 6th April, 2021 before the Surgical team proceeded to the theater donated 2 brand new Infant Incubators and baby bed to the Akuse Government as he assured them of more support from his outfit since they serve large people from some areas in his beloved constituency.
Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa with much joy after the successful delivery of the conjoined twins assured the family and the medical team at the hospital of his commitment and readiness to foot all the surgical expenses that will be incurred for the successful separation of the babies and other bills for the specialist services at the referral Hospital.
Dr. Alhassan Mousa of the Akuse Government Hospital expressed his joy after the successful surgery in an interview with www.krobolandonline.com as he used the opportunity to appeal to the general public as well as Government to come to aid of Akuse Government Hospital which is over 100 years since its construction and its earlier operations as a clinic but its currently running as a Government Hospital with several challenges.
He applauded the dedicated staff of the hospital for always giving their all, especially on emergency situations despite the numerous infrastructure and equipment challenges and he expressed hope that help will soon locate Akuse Government Hospital to assist them with a modern emergency Centre since the Hospital attends to several road accident emergencies because they are the closest Hospital to the Team to Akosombo highway.
