A 30-year old primary teacher, Kwabena Anim Seth, has been jailed 15 years by an Accra Circuit Court for sexually abusing a 12 year-old boy.
According to the prosecution, mother of the victim suspected the teacher of having unnatural carnal knowledge of his son after she went through his son’s Whatsapp messages and discovered chats and obscene materials between the two.
Reports indicate that Kwabena Anim Seth, whom the son referred to as his teacher comes to the house to assist in his online school assignments. Probing further on what transpired between the boy and the suspect, the victim confided in the mother and said that the teacher comes to the house to assist him with school assignment after which he has unnatural carnal knowledge of him. This he said had occurred on three occasions.
The mother showed interest and advised him to invite him to the house which to confirm the revelation. She later informed witnesses to be alert and arrest Kwabena Anim Seth if he comes to the house.
Kwabena Anim Seth went to the victim’s house the following day, 11th June, 2020 around 11:30am as agreed and upon entering the complainant’s living room, removed his dress leaving only a boxer short. In the event of removing the victim’s dress, the victim coughed to signal the witnesses who were hiding in the kitchen who rushed to the living room to arrest the suspect.
A police patrol team from the Accra Regional Police Headquarters was informed and they proceeded to the complainant’s house and picked the accused to the Regional CID for further investigation.
The suspect admitted to the offence in his cautioned statement and that he had unnatural carnal knowledge with the victim but only on two occasions but not three as earlier recounted by the victim. Accused was subsequently charged and arraigned.
