All 70 staff of Afconz camp B at Kpong, the company contructing the Tema -Mpakadan Railway who have tested positive of the novel COVID-19 some two months ago have all been declared negative after two consecutive testing.

This brings the total positive cases in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality to Zero.

The good news was announced today when the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Eric Kwakya Darfour led a team of delegation from the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council to pay an official working visit to the Camp.

The main purpose of the site is to checked on the 70 railway construction workers who were affected by the Corona virus crisis in the Eastern but all of them have now recovered meaning active case count in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality is currently zero.

Dr. Alberta A. Biritwum-Nyarko, Eastern Regional Director of Health Service revealed this in her address when she gave comprehensive update on the Covid-19 pandemic in the Eastern Region.

The Regional health director said after second successful test of the 70 affected railway workers and their other Colleagues who were not affected by the virus at the Afconz Camp B at Kpong in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, she was glad to announce that the camp B is totally free of the Corona virus pandemic.
She continued to say that the Eastern Region currently recorded 134 comfirmed Cases with 95 persons fully recovered at as now. She further informed the gathering that out of the total number of affected people in the Eastern region, 21 are health workers with 7 of them fully recovered.
The Regional Health Director concluded her address with an appeal to the gathering to continue to adhere strictly to the laid down public health protocols, Social distancing and the compulsory wearing of face masks to protect ourselves and others as the President of the Republic of Ghana, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has began with the gradual process to ease the restrictions

The Hon. Eastern Regional Minister in his address commend the courage and determination exhibited by the health workers in the Municipality and others from the Regional health directorate in managing the situation that seem to be very dangerous at the beginning.
He continued to express his heart felt appreciation to the leadership of the Railway Construction Company, Afconz Infrastructure Limited for their maximum cooperation and numerous support which helped to achieve this success as he caution the Railway workers to strictly adhere to the lead down public health protocols as they resume work to complete the three hundred and Ninety Eight Million U. S. S. Dollars (398,000,000 US Dollars) Tema to Mphakadan Railway Project which is already behind the scheduled time.

The deputy managing director of Afconz Infrastructure Limited, Korimilli V. S. N. Murthy on behalf of Management and staff of Railway construction company expressed their heart felt appreciation to the President of the Republic of Ghana, The Railway Ministry, Health Ministry, the Eastern Regional Leadership, the health workers and the Local authorities under the able leadership of Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality for the support and care given when this unexpected disaster hits their Camp B workers at Kpong. He concluded by assuring the government and the general public of their readiness to resume work with strict adherence to the public health protocols for them to be able to complete the Tema to Mphakadan Railway Project and hand it over to the good people of Ghana for use.

In an interview with Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, he used the opportunity to express his appreciation to his dedicated team of health workers and other frontline workers in the fight against the Corona virus crisis in the area as he caution the general public especially the good people living in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality not to lose their guide since the Pandemic is not over yet and it’s a must to wear face masks when going around with your daily activities in his Municipality.
