As part of activities of the community education initiative by the Odumase-krobo District Police Command under the able leadership of Chief/Supt. Doris Grant on February 24, 2023, engaged the Muslim community in Agormanya after the Jummah prayers.
The District Police Commander and her team, mainly from the DOVVSU, who were led by the unit head Chief/Inspt. Arthur, explained with facts and data why parents must be very vigilant, especially about the day-to-day activities of their young adults since they are easily influenced by bad peers.
Chief/Supt. Doris Grant, addressing the Muslim congregation, stated that this initiative becomes necessary after several child abuse cases, drug abuse cases, and several criminal issues ongoing in the municipality, and as key stakeholders, they thought it wise that they must step out and engage the general public to offer this all-important education to help tackle these issues.
She said since last year when they started this program, it has taken them to schools, churches, and several worker groups where they had the opportunity to give them similar education on the need for parents to play active roles in bringing our responsible future leaders to safeguard the future of Ghana, most especially the girl child.
She assured the Islamic community at Agormanya that her doors, as well as those of DOVVSU under his command, are always open to listen to their grievances and offer the necessary support within the shortest possible time to remedy some of the community issues that require professional advice rather than them trying to solve some of the issues among themselves, which is not the best way to go.
Chief/Supt. Doris Grant expressed his gratitude to the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Chief Imam, Yunusa Issah, and the entire leadership of the Muslim community in Agormanya for giving them this all-important opportunity to engage the Muslim community with this educational series. She assured them that they could invite her or the officers under her watch to continue with this education anytime they had a public gathering, and she appealed to the crowd to go and spread the good news to their family and friends who couldn’t make it to the meeting.
The Chief Imam for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, who is also the head Imam at the Agormanya Central Mosque, applauded the Odumase-krobo District Police Commander, Chief/Supt. Doris Grant, for this outstanding initiative, which is aimed at shaping the future leaders of the community.
Iman Yunusa Issah continues to say that Chief/Supt. Doris Grant is the first in the history of Policing in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality to visit the Agormanya Central Mosque and engage the entire congregation on a holy day like Jummah Day, which is commendable because it’s always meetings at the leadership levels without direct engagement with the entire Muslim community.
The Muslim Chief Iman assured the entire Police administration in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of his maximum support and cooperation to help them best discharge their duties as professional Police officers.
The entire Muslim congregation in Agormanya at the central mosque, under the able leadership of Iman Yunusa Issah, prayed for Ya Allah’s guidance, protection, and blessings for the Odumase-krobo District Police Commander and all her officers, as well as for all security operatives in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality and Ghana at large.
