The Eastern Regional Minister Designate, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, on Thursday, January 16, 2025, paid a courtesy call on Nene Sakite II, Konor of the Manya Krobo Traditional Area and President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs. The visit was to officially inform him of her nomination as Eastern Regional Minister ahead of her vetting and confirmation.

Leading the delegation was Hon. John Atteh Matey, Lower Manya Krobo Constituency Chairman of the NDC and David Tettey, Deputy Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC, who sought the blessings of the traditional leadership under Nene Sakite II for Mrs. Awatey as she prepared for the parliamentary vetting process.


Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Awatey pledged her full commitment to advancing the development of Krobo Land, the Eastern Region, and Ghana as a whole. She appealed to Nene Sakite II for his royal blessings and guidance to successfully undertake her national duties.

In his response, Nene Sakite II offered his blessings, invoking the support of the ancestors and God’s protection over her journey. He assured her of the backing of the traditional authorities and the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, expressing confidence in her ability to effectively manage the region’s affairs. Nene Sakite II concluded by wishing her success in her upcoming confirmation process.

A delegation from the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly led by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Selorm Kwame Tibu were in attendance.
