THE DISCOVERY OF NANA APLAM II
Manya Krobo Kingdom is highly respected for producing transformal leaders. Exploits of Nene Azu Matey Korle, E.R.T. Madjitey, Moderator Odjidja, Boakye Agyarko, Dr. Tamatey, Dr. Narh etc cannot be overemphasized. With your kind permission, we would like to take you on a very short discovery mission. It’s all about knowing the reigning Paramount Queen of Manya Krobo State.

Nana Koryo Piyogu Aplam II, known in her private life as Madam Grace Koryo Asare hails from the Kwame Nguah Royal Family of the Manya Krobo State. She is indeed the lawful reigning Paramount Queen of the great Manya Krobo State now.
She holds Masters degree in Education Administration from Cape Coast University, Bachelor of Education from University of Education – Winneba, and and Diploma in Basic Education from Abetifi College of Education. She has commenced an admission process for her Doctoral degree studies.

Nana Aplam II has worked extensively as a classroom teacher, a subject teacher, a head teacher and currently the Municipal Coordinator for Girl Child Education in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.

Upon her accession onto the throne and subsequent coronation as the new Paramount Queen of the Manya Krobo State, Nana Aplam II discovered to her greatest dismay that her predecessor has left behind no records of ongoing development or social intervention projects. There wasn’t any link to her foreign trips that she and her entourage embarked on.
It is absolutely sad to note that the Paramount Queen of the great Manya Krobo has no befitting place to call her palace with lavatory and othet relevant facilities to receive visitors, work and reside.
The only option available under the circumstances was for Nana Aplam II to start everything right from the scratch. With an absolute sense of urgency, she contracted the Madjitey Institute of Negotiation to produce a seven year strategic development plan with a substantial focus on women and children for her office. She also tasked the Institute to hold leadership and governance capacity building programmes for all the Queen Mothers of Manya Krobo State, to supervise the registration of the Manya Krobo Queen Mothers Association, to write a new constitution and also get bank account opened for the association. The Madjitey Institute of Negotiation delivered brilliantly on this honourable assignments. This is where Nana Aplam II came into contact with Mr. Francis Opai Tetteh, who is the President of the Madjitey Institute of Negotiation
Out of the seven year strategic development plan, Nana Aplam II has carved out these key projects and programmes she is pursuing ardently. These include:
(1) The Queen’s Palace building project which seeks to provide a befitting residential, conference, restaurant, library and gym facilities for Manya Krobo Paramount Queens
(2) The Cassava Processing factory design to create value for cassava, create jobs for women, cassava farmers and also to generate income for Manya Krobo Queen Mothers Association.
(3) The Glass grinding factory to support beads manufacturing industry in Manya Krobo.
(4) The establishment of an Aviation School at Manya Krobo to serve the West African sub region
(5) The annual Menstrual Hygiene Summit for adolescent girls. It is done in collaboration with the health establishments within the Manya Krobo State on the world menstrual hygiene day.
(6) The Queen’s Valentine’s Day programme, where she distributes 1000 bars of chocolates to 1000 girls and also engage them on adolescent reproductive health conversations every Val’s day. That’s her strategy to reduce the sky rocketing teenage pregnancies which stood above 400 in 2017 within the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality alone.
(7) Camp Yohunor: this is also a career guidance and enhancement annual camp meeting for girls in Junior & Senior High Schools during the long vacation period.

(8) Convoy of Smile: a humanitarian project designed to present food items and material gifts to children and the aged in the Manya Krobo State.
Nana Aplam II is indeed, a work on progress, a leader with a vision and a Queen with supernatural call to duty.
Former President Nelson Mandela once said …. “Fools multiply where the wise remain silent”. Refused to be gaged! Support the Queen to serve the people.
