A total of 1,158 citizens in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality and its surrounding areas benefited from a recent free NHIS registration and renewal exercise organized by the management of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Hospital, Agormanya. This initiative was part of the hospital’s corporate social responsibility to support the healthcare needs of the community.

Speaking on the exercise, the Administrative Manager of the hospital, Grace Netty, stated that out of the total beneficiaries, 161 were first-time registrants, while 997 renewed their expired NHIS cards.

This was the second edition of the hospital’s community health initiative, which aligns with its commitment to promoting the well-being of the people it serves.

In an exclusive interview with www.krobolandonline.com, Mr. Emmanuel Bosompim, the Hospital Administrator, explained that the hospital observed that some patients face medical emergencies without an active NHIS card, leading to delays and frustrations in accessing healthcare. As a result, the hospital decided to launch this initiative to assist its cherished clients. He further revealed that management plans to expand the initiative in the coming years to cover even more people.

Mr. Bosompim reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to making decisions that serve the best interests of the general public, especially the local community. He also emphasized the hospital’s dedication to upholding the humanitarian values of the Roman Catholic Church.

He concluded by expressing gratitude to the staff of the Manya Krobo NHIS District Office, who collaborated with hospital personnel on March 6th to make the initiative a success.
