Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality has commended the Volta River Authority on their continuous efforts in educating people living along their 2 major Power generation dams on Emergency Preparedness Plan as he appealed to all the stakeholders at the meeting to make this all important information and presentation documents that were used during the program available to their agancies, departments and Associations to serve its intended purpose.
The Hon. MCE made this statement during a one day stakeholders meeting organized by the VRA on Tuesday 29th March, 2022 at the conference hall of the Dangme-Tongu Presbytery.
The team of well vested Volta River Authority (VRA) staff from Akosombo enlightened the gathering on the need of the Emergency Preparedness Plan (EPP) which over the years the VRA has been taking them through in similar stakeholder engagements since it will be of great help to them and the entire community incase the unexpected happen one day.
The opinion Leaders, traditional leaders, Honourable Assembly members and representatives from the youth groups in Municipality present at the meeting had the opportunity to asked several questions which were answered by the team from VRA, NADMO and the Management team from the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly.
This is an annual training programme that’s been organised by the VRA to educate the above mentioned participants who may be at risk due to the operations of the Akosombo and Kpong Dam on emergency Preparedness Plans to be able to avoid danger whenever the unexpected happens.
Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh suggested to the team from VRA to further find more modern means of communication like the use of the social media portals dissemination of this all important life saving information to be able to reach the masses within the shortest possible times.
The Hon. MCE in his remarks assured VRA of continuous cooperation from the Municipal Assembly in the best interest of the people of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.
The VRA in the Previous years has erected some safe haven Sign Post in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality and also presented some Emergency Preparedness Plan and its safe haven Maps to the Leadership of the Municipal Assembly at their previous meeting which they adviced them to place the Maps at vantage points around the premises of the Assembly for the general public to easily have access to these all important informations on the Maps.
