The Akute Azu We, one of the Royal Families of Kokum in the Manya Krobo Traditional area have asked the Krobo citizenry to remain steadfast in the desire to protect the sanctity of their common goal as one people.
Speaking in a press conference today, Mr. Amenyo Torkornoo of the Akute Azu ‘We’ called on all parties and stakeholders to help fulfill the recommendation directed by the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs some 25 years ago.
According to him, the House of Chiefs in it ruling in a matter brought before it acknowledged that all male descendants and 12 wives and associate descendants of the Odorkor Azu are all rightful occupants of the Manya Krobo Paramount Stool.
He indicated that the court directed them to remains cognizant of all provisions of the constitution of the Ghana, that not only must a chief hail from the appropriate family and lineage, he must be validly nominated, elected or selected and enstooled, enskined or installed as chief or queen mother in accordance with the relevant customary law amd usage.
Mr. Amenyo affirmed the court refrained from imposing paramount chief therefore directed them to take the necessary steps to reconstruct the Odumase Council which will be vested with customary responsibility of installing chiefs and queen mothers in Manya Krobo.
Meanwhile, he said 25 Years after the ruling, the Odumase council has since not yet been reconstituted as directed by the court of law.
“As far as we are concerned, the Odumase council has not been reconstituted for the past 25 years, the body who will be responsible to enstooling and destoolment of chiefs and paramount queens here”.
They are however calling for the court recommendation to be taken into action as they also have the power to inherit the Manya Krobo Paramouncy.
