Thinking Minds Ghana, a Non-governmental organisation based in Kpong in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in partnership Raney Enterprise commenced training for the first batch of 40 beneficiaries under the MAGG Project (Making Abolo Girl Great) on Monday 24th January, 2022.
To officially take off, a short commencement ceremony was held at the conference hall at their well equipped training center at Kpong near the Kpong Police Station.
The colourful commencement ceremony saw a lot stakeholders passing through with solidarity messages and words of encouragement to the beneficiaries.
The MAGG Project is intended to address some major challenges facing the young and old ladies in the hawking of Abolo which serves as the major source of income for the ladies in the Kpong Township in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Regional.
The MAKING ABOLO GIRL GREAT (MAGG) project as it commenced training is intended to give free skills training to the first batch of beneficiaries to serve as an alternative livelihood support to them.
The first batch of beneficiaries who started their training after the official commencement ceremony will over a period of One year will be given training in fashion & design and cosmetology.
The project in the near future is looking at running training for catering services to interested beneficiaries as it is committed to give these street hawkers additional or alternative income sources to make up for their unproductive off days.
Beneficiaries will also undergo basic entrepreneurship training as Mr. Samuel Kakra Boamah, Co-Founder and Associate Director, Thinking Minds Ghana assured them in his speech of their commitment to give over 100 girls alternative income earning skills by the end of the first phase of the Project.
Mr Samuel Kakra Boamah( Co-Founder and Associate Director, Thinking Minds Ghana) assured the beneficiaries of the readiness of Thinking Minds Ghana and their partners to give them maximum support to make their training duration very friendly and stress-free but a lot depends on them since they’re the first batch of this all important initiative and it’s a big challenge to them to make it successful since that’s the best way to sustain and expend the initiative for others to also benefit.
The Co-Founder and Associate Director concluding his address used the opportunity to expressed their heartiest appreciation to Ms. Lashawn Raney, CEO of Raney Enterprise who is their major supporter and partner on the MAGG Project which her support has brought the project this far as he wished her well in all her endeavors.
Ms. Lashawn Raney expressing her joy of seeing these ladies commencing with their training under the MAGG Project challenged the ladies to see this as a golden opportunity to be different from their previous livelihoods by adding value to them which is the only way a woman can be great and respected in society.
She assured them of continuous support and frequent visits to encourage them as they journey to greatness. She concluded by asking them to believe in themselves which is one of the strong things they need on this self empowerment journey.
She further called on the stakeholders present at the commencement ceremony especially the team from the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly, Business Advisory Center to give their maximum support to groups like the Thinking Minds Ghana since they plays active roles in community mobilization for development in the positive direction.
Other dignitaries present at the Commencement ceremony are Mr. Edmond Addo, Head of business advisory center(Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly), Gifty Ambassaki -Aspiring women organizer (NPP-LMKC), John Obuaba- Executive Director of Celdar and Hon. Raymond Gborson- Assembly member for kpong Ahundzo electoral Area among others.
