Management of St. Martin de Porres Hospital, Agomanya in the Eastern Region, launched Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The short ceremony, which took place at the OPD of the hospital on Monday, October 3, 2022, outlines several activities by the hospital to positively observe the month.
Mrs. Theresah Yeboah, head of Nursing of the St. Martin de Porres Hospital, Agomanya, addressing the gathering of clients and staff of the hospital, emphasized the need for women to self-examine their breasts at least once every month.
She continued to advise the women to report any suspected abnormalities regarding their breast health to the nearest health care facility for further examination and appropriate measures to address the problem at its early stages.
She went on to disclosed the plans of the hospital to provide free intensive breast cancer screening throughout the month of October, which is usually called the ‘Pink Month’, and entreated their cherished clients and staff of the hospital to take advantage of this month’s breast cancer awareness activities to fully examine their breasts at no cost.
Several medical doctors and other health care practitioners who will be serving actively on the breast cancer awareness team had the opportunity to take the gathering through comprehensive education on breast cancer and its complications as they made it clear that men are not exempted from the breast cancer issues.
Sr. Margaret Mary Woedi, Head of Pharmacy, and Rev. Fr. Philip Ekow Taylor, Chaplain and Counselor of the hospital, were among the dignitaries present at the launch.
In an exclusive interview with www.krobolandonline.com, Dr. Bansah Miriam Theodorah, team leader of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month celebration, said their activities will run alongside the upcoming Ngmayem Festival 2022 as she entreats the general public to look out for their screening centers at all the Ngmayem Festival activity points.
She continued to disclose a detailed timetable of their scheduled activities that will take them to schools, churches, market places, and offices, among others, and she advised the good people of Lower Manya Krobo Municipality not to hesitate to approach their screening centers wherever they find them, since the screening centers are run by well-trained medical practitioners who are always ready to help them.
