The Municipal Chief Executive for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh on Monday 8th June, 2020 disburse 9,000 Mango seedlings to farmers in his Municipality.
He hinted 6,000 more of the seedlings will be distributed within the next few months.
The Project is under the ruling Government flagship Project, Ghana Commercial Agricultural Project (GCAP) which is in being run in partnership with the Crop Research Institute, Kumasi.
The initiative by the Government was intended to support farmers with more seedlings of commercial crops for free to expand their farm base to improve upon their income as well as sustain the Local factories and some for expose.
Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh applause the President of the Republic of Ghana, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for bringing on this among several Agricultural initiatives which is to improve the lives of farmers in the Country.
He recorded that under similar project, Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) last year, some farmers in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality received 32,000 Mango seedlings to help them expand their farmers.
Hon. Simon Kweku concluded by cautioning the farmers to put the seedlings into good use since this will bring them good income in the coming years as he advised them to strictly wear nose masks whenever they stepped up their private residences to help curb the spread of the Corona virus pandemic.
The Lower Manya Krobo Municipality Director of Agric, Mr. Goodswill Komla Glante assured the beneficiaries of constant Agricultural extension support from his team of high qualified extension officers to help them achieve good yield results in the near future.
