A team of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) from the Kpong Ambulance Station led by Snr. EMT Kennedy Mensah, Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Director of the National Ambulance Service in the early hours of Wednesday 16th March, 2022 has held an engagement session for students and teachers of Kodjonya Presby Basic School.
The session was to interact with both teachers and students as they took them through basic first aid trainings and operations of the National Ambulance Service.
The team took the gathering through several ways to manage emergencies before contacting the professionals or even rushing the victim to the nearest health system.
Mr. Kennedy Mensah emphasized that the period between when someone is involved in an accident and when he/she is being handed over to professionals is very critical since if the person is not well manage can cause permanent physical damage or lead to a preventable death.
He said due to the occurrences of some of this preventable situations, they as Professional EMTs with the National Ambulance Service in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality has taken it upon themselves to initiate this education series which will take them to Schools, Churches, Mosques, Markets and other gathering to educate the public which in returns with save lives.
Both the Teachers and Pupils have had the opportunity to see some of the special equipments in the Modern Ambulance as the EMTs explains some of the special features of the new Ambulances.
Mrs. Honenya Benedicta, Headmistress of Kodjonya Presby Basic School on behalf of the entire school fraternity expressed their heartiest appreciation to the team from the National Ambulance Service for this educative program which will go a long way to benefit them.
