173 educational institutions in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality were successfully fumigated ahead of the reopening of the institutions as directed by the President of the Republic of Ghana, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The fumigation exercise covered both Public and Private institutions in the Municipality.
The number comprises of 65 public basic Schools, 96 private Basic Schools, 4 Public SHS, 6 Private SHS, 1 private Tertiary which is the Ensign College of Public Health, Kpong and 1 public Tertiary which is the Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Odumase-Krobo.
Mr. Godfried Caeser, Lower Manya Krobo Municipal SHEP Coordinator at the Municipal Education Directorate who coordinated the exercise on behalf of the Municipality disclosed that the assignment was successful and the schools are ready to welcome the learners back to school soon.
He continue to say that, for the Municipal Education Directorate to be in full readiness to host the students back to school safely after barely a year of absence, the Municipal Directorate under the able leadership of Mr. Odoi Kwaku Williams has outlined several stakeholders meetings with the headteachers of all the schools in the area to put in place strategies to best handle the Covid-19 led down public health protocols.
In a separate interview with Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, he assured that the Municipal Assembly under his able leadership will do everything possible to safeguard both the Students, teaching and Non-Teaching Staff in this Covid-19 pandemic times as they return to school since education of the Children is key in protecting the future of the Mother Ghana.
The Hon. MCE appeals to all parents and guidance to play active role in protecting the children as they return to school by reporting any suspected situations to be appropriate state authorities in time for quick response and solution.
