On Thursday, February 23, 2023, two communities in the upper part of Yilo Krobo Municipality received the Mechanized Borehole with Overhead Poly Tank Project, solely funded by Hon. Richard Twum Barimah Koranteng, 1st Vice Chairman of the NPP in the Eastern Region.

The 2 projects, which are worth almost GHC 100,000, were handed over to the Klo-Akwapem and Klo-Agogo communities, respectively, after a short handing ceremony that was graced by chiefs, natives of the beneficiary communities, constituency executives of the NPP in the Yilo Krobo constituency, and party faithfuls.

Hon. Ozigli K. Philip, Assembly Member for the Klo-Akwapem community, who spoke on behalf of the community, expressed their heartiest appreciation to Hon. Richard Twum Barimah Koranteng for this kind gesture, which will give the community a high quantity of portable water to help prevent the numerous water-borne infections that have been affecting them in the past.

He continued to say that on his own behalf and on behalf of the entire Klo-Akwapem community, they humbly appeal to Hon. Richard Twum Barimah Koranteng and the other stakeholders present to consider building a CHPS compound facility for the community since they have to travel on their deplorable road for a distance before accessing health care services, which is very life-threatening in times of labor for the women. He concluded by further appealing to Hon. Twum Barimah to also consider providing a new KG Block for the community, as he said God almighty, in his own wisdom, should protect and bless Hon. Richard Twum Barimah Koranteng for always remembering them in the remote communities.

Nene Odjeyem I, Chief of Klo-Agogo Community, said Hon. Richard Twum Barimah Koranteng is a God-sent to the Yilo Krobo Municipality and Krobo Land at large for his outstanding initiatives in terms of development and youth support, which are gradually transforming the Yilo Krobo area. He prayed to God the Almighty and the gods of the land to continue to protect and bless their proud son.

Nene Odjeyem I appeals to Hon. Twum to, as a matter of urgency, assist them in repairing the faulty ambulance at the Klo-Agogo Health Center, which is very worrying and affecting quality health delivery, especially during health emergencies.

He concluded by assuring Hon. Richard Twum Barimah Koranteng of his full commitment to support him in all his endeavors so that he would be able to achieve more and help transform Yilo Krobo Municipality.

Hon. Richard Twum Barimah Koranteng, speaking at the two handing over ceremonies, assured the good people of Yilo Krobo Municipality gathered that, himself being a proud son of the Yilo Krobo Traditional Area, he will not rest until he has seen a transformed Yilo Krobo Constituency.

He continues to say that he can’t do it all alone, but as he continues to do his best in the best interest of improving the living standards of the people, especially those in rural communities, he will appeal to other sons and daughters from the area who are blessed to come back and help their people since Yilo Krobo Municipality is all they have.

He called on the leaders and the good people of Yilo Krobo Constituency to try as much as possible to peacefully coexist since that is the best way to attract development to the area in the best interest of the current and the next generation, and he cautioned them not to allow their political differences to divide them since when the area is developed, it will benefit all of them.

Hon. Twum stated that over the past few months, he has successfully registered and renewed over 8,000 NHIS cards for people in the Yilo Krobo Municipality with the intention of giving them easy access to health care in times of medical emergencies. He said that initiative is still ongoing, so people in the Yilo Krobo Municipality, especially those in the rural communities, must take full advantage of this all-important initiative.

Hon. Twum, speaking at both gatherings, informed the leadership of his intention to operate subsidised Agro-Chemical Centers in the villages, which will provide their farm inputs to them at subsidised rates and on credit to ease their hustle during farming seasons. This initiative will commence soon, he added.

Hon. Eric Tetteh, MCE for Yilo Krobo Municipality, who was at both commissionings, applauded the efforts of Hon. Richard Twum Barimah Koranteng for his continuous support to the communities and the NPP fraternity in the constituency and wished him well in all his endeavors.

Alhaji Teye Abubakar, Chairman of the NPP in the Yilo Krobo Constituency, speaking at the commissioning event, said that in Islam, anyone who gives water gives life. He prayed to Allah to bless Hon. Richard Twum Barimah Koranteng with long life, good health, and prosperity and assured him of a continuous, cordial working relationship in the best interest of the NPP and the entire Yilo Krobo constituency that they serve.

The day was ended with a presentation of a canopy tent from Hon. Richard Twum Barimah Koranteng to the Klo-Agogo OKada Riders Association to provide a shield to them at the open space they usually operate from.

Hon. Richard Twum Barimah Koranteng assured them that he’s working tirelessly to get them better and more permanent job offers as he appeals to them to always ride safe.
