Construction works to soon commence on the dualisation of 64 kilometers Ashiaman Roundabout to Atimpoku Roundabout section of the Eastern Corridor Road.
Engineers and other officers from the Ghana Highway Authority has commenced with the community engagement meetings in the MMDA’S that the Construction Works will affect them.
This was in line with professional project management procedures to have inputs from key stakeholders in the areas that maybe affected one way or another by the construction processes.
The team in the early hours of Wednesday, 28th July, 2021 met with Stakeholders in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality at Kpong before proceeding to engage with the Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, Administrative Leadership of the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly as well as the general public at Adelakope in the Okwenya Electoral area in the Yilo Krobo Municipality.
The very interactive engagement session offered all parties the opportunity to freely voice out their views and several recommendations were made by the stakeholders and the general public gathered as the team from Ghana Highways Authority assured them that their views will seriously be put into considerations.
Hon. Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor, MCE for Yilo Krobo Municipality addressing the participants entreated all the stakeholders present to play active role in the construction of this all important highway which passes through the Yilo Krobo Municipality since they’re the representatives of their people.
He further assured them that both the Political, administrative and Traditional leadership in the Yilo Krobo Municipality will make sure they have their fair share of the over 9200 both skilled and unskilled Jobs this coming project will generate.
He conclude by appealing the stakeholders to use only the official procedures and channels of communication to address their grievances even if in case some issues comes up along the project management and execution period.
Ing. Luke Dabuoh, Design Engineer with the Ghana Highways Authority in his presentation indicates that the project being Lot 1 is divided into 3 sections and if all things goes as plan work will commence this December 2021 with section 2 which is Afienya to Kpong before tackling the section 1 which is the Ashiaman Roundabout to Afienya which is also expected to commence somewhere around July 2022.
Ing. Dabuoh assured the gathering that after several similar community engagements as part of the project management plans, they will setup a complaints and resolution unit at the Ghana Highways Authority headquarter for their grievances to be swiftly address not to delay the project.
Ing. Luke Dabuoh called on the community to cooperate with the contractors and the engineers from the Ghana Highways Authority for peaceful and smooth execution of the project to ease their frustrations on that stretch of the Eastern Corridor.
Hon. Seth Tetteh Kwesi, Assembly Member for the Okwenya Electoral area appeals to the leadership in the Yilo Krobo Municipality to assist in securing some of the employments this Project comes with for the natives especially people in his Electoral area to ease the unemployment situation in the area as he pledge his full commitment and cooperation to the project.

Robert Kwasi Agede, Presiding Member for the Yilo Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly, he applaud the approach of the Authorities in-Charge of the project and assure them of maximum cooperation and support from the entire Honourable house of the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly for smooth execution of the project.
