Danger of spread of the Covid-19 among traders in the Agormanya market is looming due to a complete disregard to the mandatory wearing of Nose masks at the Agormanya Market in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.
The situation looks totally out of control as activities in the market are on going without compliance to the laid down public health protocols.
Most of the several Veronica Buckets placed at vantage points in the Main Market by the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly were no where to be found when our team tours the market on Wednesday 29th July, 2020 after several community complaints to our operations to follow on the situation.
The traders are also not adhering to the social distancing directive as the market has been heavily crowded.
The Agormanya was closed down on 23rd April after an emergency meeting between the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Health Emergency Committee under the leadership of Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE for the area and the stakeholders of the Market due to Noncompliance to the laid down public health protocols.
In our interactions with some of the traders at the Market, some say that they feel uncomfortable wearing the nose masks now and information in the public domain means that, people get discharge after 10 days when affected so it not dangerous anymore which is a very dangerous path.
The Lower Manya Krobo Municipality despite having most of its first identified cases at the working Camp of the Railway company, Afconz Infrastructure Limited at Kpong, the area subsequently recorded some community cases among others which makes the current trend of activities at the Agormanya main Market very dangerous.
