The second edition of the National STEM Competition (Stemnnovation) came off at the Cedi Hall of University of Ghana on 14th and 15th November, 2023.
This contest, designed exclusively for Senior High Schools across Ghana, aims to foster innovation, critical thinking, and excellence among students in the field of Science and Technology, Engineering,and Mathematics (STEM).
And out of over 100 schools that participated in the competition, 25 qualified for the National competition.
The categories include the following
i) Urban Gardening
ii) Flexible use of Electricity
iii) Clean Water
Akuse Methodist SHTS emerged *2nd* in the Clean Water category, and ranked *6th* among the Top *10* Schools that participated in the competition.
The school received a plaque, books, and a cash prize of Ghc 10,000.
Yesterday, November 16, 2023, there was excitement in the school as students and staff welcomed them to the school.
Today, Friday November 17, 2023, the team presented their prizes to the Headmaster. Receiving the team in his office, the Headmaster was full of praises to the teachers who coached the students and urged them to start preparations to win the first position next year.
He reminded them that last year, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Most Rev.Dr Paul K. Boafo presented laptops to the school, and charged us to use the computers to advance the study of Science.
It is no wonder that we have ” hit the ground running “.We will work hard to win the ultimate prize in next year’s competition.
