The management of Akuse Government Hospital in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality has dedicated a consulting room and some specialized staff to freely screening breast cancer cases as part of their activities to observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Dr. Mrs. Edna O. Asamoa-Agyare, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, disclosed this during the official launch of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month Program of the hospital, which was held on Monday, October 10, 2022.
The colourful and very educative ceremony, which was held in the early hours of Monday at the forecourt of the facility, had some clients and stakeholders in attendance.
The Management of Akuse Government Hospital has outlined the following 3 key points to guide their Breast Cancer Awareness Month Program and they’re Free Breast examination, Daily health education at OPD and wellness clinic and Free counseling/referral /education at all outreach centers in Akuse.
The team of medical and health professionals led by Dr. Mrs. Edna O. Asamoa-Agyare took the gathering through several educational sessions on Breast Cancer Awareness. They taught the gathering how they could self-examine themselves, especially the women; they made it clear to the women that they must self-examine their breasts once every month, which is the only way to quickly determine any abnormalities regarding their breast health for early prevention treatment and other management to save life.
Dr. Mrs. Asamoa-Agyare advised the participants to spread this all-important information to their families and friends for them to benefit from this free screening initiative by the Akuse Government Hospital as part of the activities to celebrate World Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which falls in October every year.
In an exclusive interview with www.krobolandonline.com, the Administrator of the Hospital, Mr. Felix Kwame Osei-Safo, used the opportunity to express their heartiest appreciation to their main sponsors of this life-saving initiative, Hills Pharmaceuticals and Multi-i Limited among others for devoting resources to enable this breast cancer awareness month program to be duly launched.
