The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, Hon. John Atteh Matey, on Monday, March 2, 2026, officially took delivery of a newly completed 12-unit dormitory block with ancillary facilities at Akuse Methodist Technical Senior High School (AMEST).

The project includes a 20-seater WC toilet facility, mechanised Borehole project with overhead Polytanks, Big Bathroom, an ironing area, and a multi-room bungalow, all aimed at improving student accommodation and staff welfare within the school.

Upon receiving the keys to the facility after successful practical completion and technical inspection, Hon. John Atteh Matey commended both the contractor and the consultant for delivering quality work within a remarkably short period.

Addressing the gathering, the MCE expressed his heartfelt appreciation to John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, for fulfilling his commitment to complete abandoned government projects across the country. He described the AMEST dormitory block as a clear testament to that promise, noting that the project had remained abandoned since 2016.

According to Hon. John Atteh Matey, following the President’s intervention, a new contractor was engaged around August 2025, and the project was successfully completed ahead of schedule in February 2026. He further assured the people of the AMEST community that government remains committed to providing additional infrastructure support to facelift the school.

The Headmistress of AMEST, Christiana Frimpong, speaking on behalf of the school’s management, staff, and students, also expressed profound gratitude to the President of the Republic and the Municipal Chief Executive for the urgency attached to the previously abandoned project.

She noted that the swift completion of the dormitory has greatly improved the learning environment and appealed to government to continue supporting the school with additional infrastructure to ensure smooth and effective teaching and learning.
