30,000 Mango seedlings were distributed to 175 Mango farmers in the Yilo Krobo Municipality on Wednesday 3rd June 2020 as Hon. MCE hinted of distributing more soon.

Hon. Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor, MCE for the Municipality presented the Mango seedlings to the farmers under the Planting for Export and Rural development initiative of the ruling NPP government which aims at commercialization the productions in the Agricultural sector that will have enough for Export which will bring income and well as enough supplies to the Local Industries.

Hon. Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor in the early hours of day met with the beneficiaries at the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly where he advised them to take this government support very serious since the Assembly is investing hugely into this all important initiative which aims to support them to expend their farms.

The Hon. MCE disclosed that the production of the 30,000 Mango seedlings cost the Municipal Assembly GHC 105,000.00 and they’re ready to give 240 seedlings each to every beneficiary which will occupied 4 aches of farm Land.
He continued to say that, for the initiative not to take the certified and trained Mango seedlings Producers in his area out of business, the Assembly under his leadership met with them and reached a successful agreement to procedure the seedlings for government under a subsidised price but all the same it has increased their production which brought about increased in their income.

The Hon. MCE concluded by assuring the general public that the Assembly under his leadership is committed to facilitate the process of producing more Mango seedlings to support already Mango farmers and new farmers who want to join the business to be able to produce more Mangoes in his Municipality for both export and Rural Development as the Assembly is working seriously to have a Mango Processing Factory in the Area under the 1 district 1 factory initiative under the ruling Government.
Mr. Francis Djetse Apertey, Yilo Krobo Constituency Parliamentary candidate of the NPP who witnessed the short ceremony assured the farmers that he will be supporting them with insecticides and other chemicals to best manage the Mango seedlings.

Mr. Daniel Oduro, Yilo Krobo Municipal Mofa Director assured the beneficiaries of maximum Agric Extension support from himself and his team of extension officers to sustain the seedlings for a better yield in the near future.

The Chairman of the Klo Certified Mango Nursery operators Association, Mr. Stephen Adamtey in an interview with www.krobolandonline.com on behalf of his Association expressed their heart felt appreciation to the President of the Republic of Ghana, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Municipal Chief executive for keeping them in business by trusting this all important initiative in their hands.
