The Somanya District Police Command under the leadership of Supt. Anyani Andrews had met with the driver unions in the area on Thursday 18th March, 2021.

The meeting which took place at the Somanya District Police Command discussed several issues regarding road safety and other issues concerning the transport business in the area.

Supt. Anyani Andrews in his presentation indicates that from his observations since he arrived in the area, he had noticed that there is high level of indiscipline on the principal roads in the area which has led to several road safety issues and other frustration on the roads.

He continued to say that because of the high level of indiscipline on the roads it usually leads to unnecessary traffic on the road which is highly frustrating road users in the area.

The District Commander further advised the unions that in the best interest of fully putting the very big Somanya Main Lorry station into positive use, they must avoid loading cars by the road side which is one of the main causes of the unnecessary traffic in the area which he assured them of Police Support to enforce that Law.

Other issues such as Vehicles Documentation, Driver Documentation and Road safety regulations among others were comprehensively discussed at the meeting.

Supt. Anyani Andrews assured the driver unions that all their grievances will be duely discussed at their operational levels for amicable solutions since he is ready to peacefully coexist with all stakeholders in the area.

Mr. Emmanuel T. Kortey, Chairman of Somanya – Accra GPRTU branch 3 on behalf of the all the Unions expressed their heart felt appreciation to the District Commander and his team of Police officers for making time to discuss this all important matters with them as he assured the Police of full cooperation from the driver unions in the area in the discharge of their Police duties.

The District Commander in an interview with www.krobolandonline.com after the meeting used the opportunity to called on all stakeholders in the Krobo Land area to play active roles in safeguarding lives and properties by ensuring full sanity on our roads.
