Sir Kpabitey Joseph Sackitey, a teacher at Oti Boateng Senior High School (SHS) and a native of Odumase-Krobo in the Krobo Land area, credits his educational success to the Manya Krobo Rural Bank PLC’s Scholarship Support program, from which he has greatly benefited.

In an exclusive interview with www.krobolandonline.com, after expressing his gratitude in response to our recent publication on the disbursement of Ninety Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 90,000) to this year’s scholarship beneficiaries, he agreed to share his journey. This led to a one-on-one special interview at Oti Boateng SHS in Koforidua, where he teaches.

A Journey of Perseverance and Support
Recounting his story, he became visibly emotional as he spoke about the challenges he faced after his father passed away in 2014. At the time, he was just a high school student, and without financial support, his educational dreams could have ended there. However, the Manya Krobo Rural Bank PLC scholarship program stepped in, fully supporting him from SHS to his first degree. This assistance played a crucial role in shaping his dream of becoming a young lecturer in the near future.

After successfully earning his first degree in Chemistry from the University of Education, Winneba Sir Kpabitey was determined to pursue higher education. He approached the bank again for assistance in funding his Master’s degree. Although the scholarship program only covered education up to the first degree, the bank’s management offered him a loan with a flexible repayment plan. With this financial support, he successfully completed his Master’s degree in Public health in May, 2024. Now, he has been admitted to a PhD program at a foreign university to continue his higher education in Public and is seeking support from the general public and corporate bodies to help him achieve his ultimate goal of becoming a lecturer at a young age.

Encouraging the Next Generation
Sir Kpabitey took the opportunity to encourage young individuals from deprived backgrounds not to give up on their dreams. He emphasized that hard work and perseverance attract opportunities at the right time.

He concluded by expressing heartfelt gratitude to the staff, management, and board of directors of Manya Krobo Rural Bank PLC for stepping in at a critical moment in his life. Without their support, he believes he could have been forced to drop out of school, just like many other unfortunate students.
