At last, all is set for construction works to commence on the over 80 years dilapidated Oterpkolu bridge in the Krobo Land area.
The bridge which was constructed in the Gold Coast era that link both Yilo and Lower Manya Krobo Municipalities to the Upper Manya Krobo District has since not seen any rehabilitation work leading to its current deplorable state.
Despite several demonstrations by drivers and passengers amidst series of media reportage on the state of the bridge, successive government have turned deaf ear on the bridge.
However, the Municipal Chiefs Executives for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality and Yilo Krobo Municipality, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh and Hon. Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor respectively today in a short ceremony handed over bridge for reconstruction.
The contract awarded to, Joshob Construction Company limited is expected to be completed within 12 calendar months.
It will have a dual carriage road and a side walkways.
The team leader of Broad Consult who will be monitoring the project assured that all resources are made available to see the project completed within the expected contract duration.
Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in an interview with www.krobolandonline.com expressed his heartiest appreciation to H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for approving works to commence on the 2 bridges in the area namely the Okwenya Bridge and the Oterpkolu bridge which has been a headache to the good people of the Krobo Land area.
Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh assured the good people in the Krobo Land area of the maximum commitment of the political and administrative leadership in the area to continue working hard to transform the area.
