21 people living with disabilities in the Lower Krobo Municipality on Friday 9th September, 2022 were empowered by Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh , MCE for the area in a ceremony held at the Municipal Assembly.
This Empowerment initiative is through the People living with disabilities share of the district Assemblies common fund which has been restructured to set up the people living with abilities with businesses to be able make ends meet.
This is the 9th batch of beneficiaries under this initiative which seeks to improve the welfare of the PWDs and in total, 709 PWDs in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality has benefited under this program since 2017.
The 21 beneficiaries who receive their items today received items ranging from Chest Freezers which comes with ice chest and 25 bags of sachet water as other received plastic chairs to establish rental businesses.
Others received 25 bags of charcoal to also establish charcoal selling business as some receiving Fufu Pounding machines and Set up Products for cosmetics business for one person.
Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh in his brief address adviced the beneficiaries to put the support into good use to help themselves and others depending on them.
He further entreated them to desist from selling the Freezers and other items received as he pledged his maximum commitment to make sure the lives of PWDs in his Municipality gets improved under his leadership as the Municipal Chief executive.
Ms. Janet Adenyo, head of the Social Welfare Unit at the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly entreated all the people living with disabilities to embrace this all important initiative which is intended to improve their lives.
