Immigration officers under the “Operation motherland” has arrested 17 Nigerians in the early hours of Wednesday 21st April, 2021 near the Kpong Dam at Akuse.
They were suspected to have illegally entered the country through unapproved means since the boarders are still closed as per the Covid-19 management directive by H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of Ghana.
The group made up of 5 females and 12 males were arrested on board a Benz Sprinter Van with Registration Number GR 5314-21 enroute from Aflao to Accra.
The driver and his mate were confirmed to be Ghanaians.
The driver whose name is Mawuli disclosed that all the 17 passengers boarded his vehicle at Aflao where he loaded in the early hours to Accra.
After thorough questioning of the 17 arrested Nigerians by the joint security operations between Immigration officers from the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Immigration Command, Police officers from the Akuse District Police Command and officers from the ‘Operation Motherland’ team, they have decided to take the arrested 17 Nigerians back to the head office of the ‘Operation Motherland’ at the Volta Regional Capital, Ho for further investigation and necessary actions.
