Talons F/C, a 2nd Division side from Odumase-Krobo in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality was held to 1-1 draw by Great Warriors F/C in their first Eastern Region Division 2 middle league match played at Akwapim Mampong Park.
The game which took place in the early hours of Thursday 9th September, 2021 was halted after 8 minutes of playing time due to a Protest appeal against the Great Warriors F/C but after 1 hour of the stop of the game, the referees and the match commissioners were given the green light by the Eastern Regional Football Association to continue with the game after the disciplinary Committee of the RFA dismissed the Protest.
Talons F/C took the lead in the 25th Minute through a superb strike from the prolific sticker of Talons F/C by name Emmanuel but Talons F/C gave in to a 90th Minute Equalizer from the Great Warriors F/C side after a painful defensively miscommunication.
Talons F/C are currently the only team from the Krobo Land area to qualify for the Eastern Region Division 2 Middle League in the past 25 years after the last appearance by KROBO YOUTH F/C and the entire Krobo bloc is expecting them to bring Glory back home.
They find themselves in a group of 4 teams which will play in ‘All Play All’ format as their second match is scheduled for Sunday 12th September, 2021.
Coach Okocha of Talons F/C in an exclusive interview with www.krobolandonline.com after the game said despite the disappointing late goal, he will do everything as the leader of the team to keep the team Spirit high since the Journey to qualification is far from over and the entire Talons F/C fraternity is committed to bring Division 1 football to Odumase-Krobo.
He continued to appeal to the leadership, Stakeholders and the general public to give them maximum support in all possible aspects to help boost the moral of the playing team in their subsequent matches.
