Odumase-Krobo, July 30, 2026 – The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, Hon. John Atteh Matey, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to accelerating development across the Municipality, highlighting significant achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, roads, sanitation, security and revenue mobilisation.
Delivering his Sessional Address at the 1st Ordinary Meeting of the 1st Session of the 8th Assembly on Thursday, July 30, Hon. Matey said his vision is to make Lower Manya Krobo “a better place to live, work and do business” through responsive governance and strategic development initiatives.
On security, the MCE commended the security agencies for maintaining peace and noted that the commissioning of the Krobo Divisional Police Headquarters at Lassi by President John Dramani Mahama has strengthened policing and enhanced public safety within the Municipality. He also expressed condolences to families affected by recent fire disasters and assured residents of continued collaboration with NADMO to reduce disaster risks.
In the area of education, Hon. Matey highlighted ongoing investments, including the construction of new classroom blocks at Agormanya Methodist Basic School, Mt. Mary Demonstration Basic School, Kpong West and Agormanya R/C Basic School. He also announced the distribution of hundreds of desks and tables to schools to improve teaching and learning, while Assembly Hall projects at MAKROSEC and Akro Secondary Technical School continue to make steady progress.
The MCE disclosed that the Assembly has undertaken extensive road improvement works, including grading, gravelling and culvert construction across several communities. He also welcomed the continued progress on the Somanya–Kpong Highway rehabilitation, the commencement of internal roads at MAKROSEC, and the award of contracts for the reconstruction of the Akuse–Asutuare Road and other roads within Akuse.
On healthcare, he said the Assembly is expanding access to quality health services through the construction of CHPS compounds, staff accommodation and support for the newly completed Primary Health Care Post at the Agormanya Market.
Hon. Matey also outlined interventions in water and sanitation, including the drilling of new mechanised boreholes, expansion of refuse collection services, and the desilting of the Odjadornya culvert as part of the National Clean-Up Exercise to reduce flooding.
Touching on agriculture and social protection, he announced support for farmers through training, distribution of broilers, fertilizers and oil palm seedlings, while Persons with Disabilities and LEAP beneficiaries continue to receive livelihood support and NHIS assistance.
On the financial front, the MCE revealed that the Assembly had achieved 52 percent of its 2026 Internally Generated Fund (IGF) target by the end of June and expressed optimism of surpassing the annual target. He added that funds expected under the District Assemblies Common Fund and the District Performance Assessment Tool (DPAT) will finance major projects, including the construction of market sheds at Agormanya, a mini abattoir at Akuse, drainage works and a court building at Kpong.
He further announced the commencement of the 24-Hour Economy Market project at Kpong and highlighted the successful resumption of revenue mobilisation activities at the Akuse Market after more than a decade.
Hon. John Atteh Matey concluded by thanking Assembly Members, Heads of Departments and development partners for their support and called for continued unity and collaboration to sustain the Municipality’s development agenda.
