During the recently held 34th World Day of the Sick Celebration and Awards Night of the Koforidua Diocese of the Catholic Church, which took place at St. Dominic Catholic Hospital, Akwatia on 12th February, 2026, David Teye Djabatey, a Perioperative Nurse (PON) and Theatre In-charge at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Hospital, Agormanya, was adjudged the Diocesan Winner for Category D (Senior Staff) by the Catholic Health Services Trust (CHST), Koforidua.

The award is a strong recognition of his dedication, commitment, and high level of professionalism demonstrated during the year under review.

At a recent staff durbar of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Hospital, Agormanya, held at the Msgr. Francis Twum Barimah Conference Hall, PON Djabatey officially presented the award to Management and staff. He emphasized that the honour was not a personal achievement but the result of collective teamwork and institutional support.

In his brief remarks, PON Djabatey described the award as motivation to do better in service, rather than an act of self-actualisation. He dedicated the recognition to hospital Management, particularly the Hospital Administrator, the Nurse Manager, the Theatre Unit and his professional association, the Ghana Association of Sterile Processing and Operating Nurses (GHASPON).

His winning profile highlighted over 10 years of loyal service focused on surgical patient safety, safe surgeries, prevention of surgical infections and complications, quality customer care, and an innovative vision to build an African Hub for Surgical Excellence (AHfSE). As part of this initiative, he produces educational surgical short videos on TikTok under the ID davido8gh.

On behalf of Management and staff, Delourdes Kafui Ahumah, Nurse Manager at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Hospital, congratulated PON Djabatey for bringing honour to the facility. She challenged other staff to work harder and adopt innovative approaches to service delivery, assuring them of Management’s continued support toward excellence and future recognitions.
